The LTM4627 is a complete 15A output high efficiency switch mode DC/DC power supply. Included in the package are the switching controller, power FETs, inductor and compensation components. Operating over an input voltage range from 4.5V to 20V, the LTM4627 supports an output voltage range of 0.6V to 5V, set by a single external resistor. Only a few input and output capacitors are needed.

Current mode operation allows precision current sharing of up to four LTM4627 regulators to obtain 60A output. High switching frequency and a current mode architecture enable a very fast transient response to line and load changes without sacrificing stability. The device supports frequency synchronization, multiphase/current sharing operation, Burst Mode operation and output voltage tracking for supply rail sequencing.

The LTM4627 is offered in thermally enhanced 15mm × 15mm × 4.32mm LGA and 15mm × 15mm × 4.92mm BGA packages. The LTM4627 is available with SnPb (BGA) or RoHS compliant terminal finish.

Product Detail

Demonstration circuit 1669 features the LTM4627EV μModule regulator, a high‐performance high efficiency step‐down regulator. The LTM4627EV has an operating input voltage range of 4.5V to 20V and is able to provide an output current of up to 15A. The output voltage is programmable from 0.6V to 5V and can be remotely sensed with the internal optional differential remote sensing amplifier. The LTM4627EV is a complete DC‐DC point of load regulator in a thermally enhanced 15mm x 15mm x 4.32mm LGA package requiring only a few input and output capacitors. This regulator is internally compensated and employs constant frequency current mode architecture, enabling a fast transient response and stable control loop over a wide range of output capacitance. It supports frequency synchronization and Burst Mode® operation for increased light load efficiency. Output voltage tracking is also available through the TRACK/SS pin for supply rail sequencing. The LTM4627 datasheet must be read in conjunction with this demo manual for working on or modifying demo circuit 1669.

Demonstration circuit 1668B-C is a PolyPhase® power supply featuring four LTM4627 high efficiency synchronous buck μModule® regulators. The DC1668B-C input voltage range is between 4.5V to 20V with a jumper programmable output voltage from 0.6V to 3.3V. The demo circuit can deliver up to 50A of load with excellent current-sharing. Current derating may be necessary under certain operating conditions.
