The ADP1612/ADP1613 are step-up dc-to-dc switching con-verters with an integrated power switch capable of providing an output voltage as high as 20 V. With a package height of less than 1.1 mm, the ADP1612/ADP1613 are optimal for space-constrained applications such as portable devices or thin film transistor (TFT) liquid crystal displays (LCDs).

The ADP1612/ADP1613 operate in current mode pulse-width modulation (PWM) with up to 94% efficiency. Adjustable soft start prevents inrush currents when the part is enabled. The pin-selectable switching frequency and PWM current-mode architecture allow for excellent transient response, easy noise filtering, and the use of small, cost-saving external inductors and capacitors. Other key features include undervoltage lockout (UVLO), thermal shutdown (TSD), and logic controlled enable.

The ADP1612/ADP1613 are available in the lead-free 8-lead MSOP.

    Product Detail

    The ADP1612/ADP1613 evaluation module is a complete step-up dc-to-dc switching converter application with components selected to allow operation over the full range of input and load conditions for the 5 V (ADP1612) and 12 V (ADP1613) output voltages. The evaluation boards can be adjusted for different output voltages by changing R1 and R2. In addition, L1, D1, C3, and R3 may need to be adjusted and should be recalculated to ensure stable operation.

    The ADP1612/ADP1613 evaluation module operates in pulse-width modulation (PWM) current mode with up to 94% efficiency. The shunt-selectable switching frequency and PWM current-mode architecture allow for excellent transient response, easy noise filtering, and the use of small, cost-saving external inductors and capacitors. Other key features include a 33 nF soft start capacitor, undervoltage lockout (UVLO), thermal shutdown (TSD), and jumper selected enable. The evaluation module demonstrates the operation and performance of the ADP1612/ADP1613.

    Product Detail

    The ADSP-SC589 EZ-KIT Lite and EZ-Board® are evaluation systems for the ADSP-SC58x family of SHARC® processors. The ADSP-SC589 processor is based on the SHARC+ core dual processor with the arm® Cortex-A5 processor core and is designed for a wide array of markets, from automotive and pro-audio to industrial-based applications that require high floating-point performance. The EZ-Board is shipped with all of the necessary hardware—you can start the evaluation immediately. The package contains the standalone evaluation board, CE-approved power supply, and USB cable. The EZ-KIT Lite® version ships with an EZ-Kit license for CrossCore® Embedded Studio (CCES) and the ICE-1000 emulator, while the EZ-Board version requires the customer to provide an ICE-1000 or ICE-2000 emulator. The EZ-Kit license gives the user a full, subscription based license to use CCES with only the ADSP-SC589 EZ-KIT Lite evaluation board.


    Expansion Interface III connectors are provided for interfacing with additional extender boards to provide LCD, camera, video, and audio. Traditional mechanical switches for changing the board's factory setup have been removed in favor of I2C controlled software switches. The only remaining mechanical switches are the boot mode switch, JTAG configuration switches, and push buttons.


    The evaluation board is designed to be used in conjunction with the CrossCore® Embedded Studio (CCES) development tools to test capabilities of the ADSP-SC58x processors. The development environment aids advanced application code development and debug, such as:

    • Create, compile, assemble, and link application programs written in C++, C, and assembly
    • Load, run, step, halt, and set breakpoints in application programs
    • Read and write data and program memory
    • Read and write core and peripheral registers
