The AD9833 is a low power, programmable waveform generator capable of producing sine, triangular, and square wave outputs. Waveform generation is required in various types of sensing, actuation, and time domain reflectometry (TDR) applications. The output frequency and phase are software programmable, allowing easy tuning. No external components are needed. The frequency registers are 28 bits; with a 25 MHz clock rate, resolution of 0.1 Hz can be achieved. Similarly, with a 1 MHz clock rate, the AD9833 can be tuned to 0.004 Hz resolution.

The AD9833 is written to via a 3-wire serial interface. This serial interface operates at clock rates up to 40 MHz and is compatible with DSP and microcontroller standards. The device operates with a power supply from 2.3 V to 5.5 V.

The AD9833 has a power-down function (SLEEP). This allows sections of the device that are not being used to be powered down, thus minimizing the current consumption of the part, e.g., the DAC can be powered down when a clock output is being generated.

The AD9833 is available in a 10-lead MSOP package.

small, powerful, speedy, simple. Is a waveform generator that would be part of any project. i think that is a great product. Everything at one. However would be good that the levels of each signals were the equal. if the max level of sine signal are milivolt then the square signal must be the same. But is something that has not importance.

Basic DDS with good features & simple to use.
SImple, easy to communicate with and control (much easier than e.g. AD5932!). Output when changing frequency is phase-continuous, minimising spurious / transient noise spikes and ideal for VFO or sweep oscillator use. Latency when switching freq / phase registers is low and well-controlled, well suited for most basic FSK / PSK applications. Found it a little odd that the reset bit / sequence does not reset frequency, phase, or control registers - OK, so what does it reset?! - but that's easily dealt with.

Good things come in small packages
The AD9833 is little brother to the AD9834. In fact, either chip can be run by the same controller using the same code, respecting differences in master oscillator ratings, of course. It is easy on batteries, drawing minimal current. The small ten pin case utilizes little board space and is usually smaller than its master oscillator. Most any other device on the board will dwarf it. Output may be a bit low, but it has enough punch to work as local oscillator without buffer amplifier in many receiver applications. Put a check mark beside this one.

A versatile digital signal generator
The AD9833 is a very small MSOP10 device that hold big capabilities. It took about 2 hours to completely figure out the datasheet and build a working prototype. I had never worked with the SPI interface but the datasheet and information on the internet helped a lot. I think this current generation of "build to perpose components" by Analog is a good start for every project!

Good building block for hybrid design
The AD9833 is simple and powerful. Simple because of its small size and low pin count. Powerful because of its usefulness in both simple and complex designs. It is about as easy as working with DDS technology gets.

Brilliant device with exactly the right features (without the usual bloat seen elsewhere)
It seems that the designers from AD have read my mind completely when the feature list of this IC was devised. The three things I find the most useful are: * The device has two frequency and phase registers which makes it extremely easy to use it to generate signals where rapid switches are needed e.g. generation of FSK. * The well defined current output of the DAC combined with the internal 200R lets you easily design a filter stage before the first buffer which can be a real BOM trimmer. * Although it is not suggested in the data sheet the 200R is also extremely handy for applications where the output needs to be turned off at times. With the available sleep modes the output of the DAC can be disabled which then simply leaves a 200R pull-down yielding Vo=0V. This remove the need for a clumsy diode or FET short to achieve the same. Should a mid scale value be desired (the output has a DC offset of 300e-3V) one of phase registers can be used and the accumulator can be powered down. Further, the elements in this device that we take for granted also fulfill the expectations shown in the data sheet. There are plenty of other features that deserve the same praise as the ones I have pointed out but I will leave those for others to expose.

Direct Digital Synthesis Sine Triangle and TTL
This integrated Circuit is run perfectly but need grow its Frequence performance with the same benefits (generated sine, triangle and TTL waveforms with frequence and phase modulation - grow about 40Mhz) Regards

AD9833 is a very robust device, works very well. Yo can generate BPSS and BFSK code easily.

AD9833 - Excellent
This chip worked perfectly in it application - a software selectable frequency generator. Simple to both embed and interface, this chip slipped on the the PCB causing hardly a stir.

I expect that the datasheet has a figure about "output voltage(p-p) vs. frequency".

This product is just i need.
