The AD57911 is a single 20-bit, unbuffered voltage-output DAC that operates from a bipolar supply of up to 33 V. The AD5791 accepts a positive reference input in the range 5 V to VDD – 2.5 V and a negative reference input in the range VSS + 2.5 V to 0 V. The AD5791 offers a relative accuracy specification of ±1 LSB max, and operation is guaranteed monotonic with a ±1 LSB differential nonlinearity (DNL) maximum specification.
The device uses a versatile 3-wire serial interface that operates at clock rates up to 35 MHz and that is compatible with standard serial peripheral interface (SPI), QSPI™, MICROWIRE™, and DSP interface standards. The device incorporates a power-on reset circuit that ensures the DAC output powers up to 0 V and in a known output impedance state and remains in this state until a valid write to the device takes place. The device provides an output clamp feature that places the output in a defined load state.

EVAL-AD5791ARDZ
Evaluating the AD5781/AD5791 18-Bit/20-Bit, ±0.5 LSB INL/±1 LSB INL Voltage Output DACs
Product Detail
The operation of the EVAL-AD5781ARDZ or EVAL-AD5791ARDZ for the AD5781 (18-bit) and AD5791 (20-bit), bipolar voltage output, digital-to-analog converters (DACs) are detailed in this user guide.
Both the EVAL-AD5781ARDZ or EVAL-AD5791ARDZ facilitate fast prototyping of the AD5781 and AD5791 circuits, thereby reducing design time. Both the EVAL-AD5781ARDZ or EVAL-AD5791ARDZ provides an on-board −14 V and +14 V dual power supply. The evaluation boards also utilizes external reference boards with an output voltage of +10 V and −10 V.
The EVAL-AD5781ARDZ or EVAL-AD5791ARDZ interface to the USB port of a PC via a system demonstration platform (SDP-K1) controller board. The Analysis | Control | Evaluation (ACE) software is available for download from both the EVAL-AD5781ARDZ or EVAL-AD5791ARDZ product pages. This software enables the user to program the AD5781 and AD5791, respectively. A peripheral module interface (PMOD) connection is also available that allows the connection of different microcontrollers to the evaluation boards without the SDP-K1 controller board. Note that when a microcontroller is used through the PMOD connection, the SDP-K1 controller board must be disconnected, and the user cannot use the ACE software.
For full details, see the AD5781 or the AD5791 data sheets, which must be used in conjunction with this user guide when using the EVAL-AD5781ARDZ or EVAL-AD5791ARDZ evaluation boards.
EVAL-ADMX1001
Ultra-low Distortion Signal Generator Measurement Module with Fully Differential Input Acquisition Channel
Product Detail
The ADMX1001 is an ultra-low distortion sinewave and high-resolution arbitrary waveform generator with an acquisition channel. This high-performance module demonstrates a proprietary digital pre-distortion algorithm that reduces signal distortion below levels that can be achieved with high-performance digital-to-analog converters (DAC) and amplifiers alone. Its differential output can be set to common-mode levels often required to test high-performance analog-to-digital converters (ADC), audio codecs, and other audio ICs and systems. The signal generator and the acquisition channel can be individually controlled using separate, easy to use, SPI interfaces - combined with the module's small-form factor, the ADMX1001 can be easily embedded into test systems, or simply used on the bench for measurement and characterization.
APPLICATIONS
- High-end audio test
- Analog-to-digital converter characterization and test
- Sensor and transducer test
- Frequency response and network analysis
- ATE
EVAL-AD5791
AD5791 Evaluation Board
Product Detail
The EVAL-AD5791SDZ is a full-featured evaluation board, designed for users to easily evaluate all features of the AD5791 voltage output, 20-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC). The AD5791 pins are accessible at on-board connectors for external connection. The evaluation board can be controlled by two means: via the on-board connector (J12) or via the system demonstration platform (SDP) connector (J14).
The evaluation board also integrates a power solution utilizing the ADP5070 switching regulator and linear regulators (ADP7118 and ADP7182) to generate a bipolar supply of up to −15 V and +15 V from a +3.3 V single supply. Alternatively, the DAC can be supplied with linear power supplies via the on-board connectors (J11 and J13).
A daughter board connected to the top right of the EVAL-AD5791SDZ includes a voltage reference to externally apply to the DAC.
The EVAL-SDP-CB1Z SDP board allows the EVAL-AD5791SDZ evaluation board to be controlled through the USB port of a Windows®-based PC featuring Windows XP or later when using the AD5791 evaluation software.
The AD5791 is a high precision, 20-bit DAC, designed to meet the requirements of precision control applications. The output range of the AD5791 is configured by two reference voltage inputs. The device is specified to operate with a dual power supply of up to 33 V.
Complete specifications for the AD5791 are available in the AD5791 data sheet available from Analog Devices, which should be consulted in conjunction with this user guide when using the evaluation board.
