The ADPL42010A is a low dropout regulator optimized for fast transient response. The device is capable of supplying 1A of output current with a dropout voltage of 400mV. Operating quiescent current is 1mA, dropping to <1μA in shutdown.

Output voltage range is from 1.21V to 20V. The ADPL42010A regulator is stable with output capacitors as low as 10μF. Internal protection circuitry includes reverse battery protection, current limiting, thermal limiting and reverse current protection. The ADPL42010A is available in fixed output voltages of 1.5V, 1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V, and as an adjustable device with a 1.21V reference voltage. The ADPL42010A regulator is available in 3-lead SOT-223 and 8-lead SO packages.

The EVAL-ADPL42010AZ evaluation board evaluates the ADPL42010A, a 20V, 1A low dropout linear regulator that is optimized for fast transient response. Circuits designed with the ADPL42010A are used primarily in voltage-controlled oscillators, RF power supplies, and in larger systems, as local regulators. The ability to tolerate a wide variety of output capacitors makes the ADPL42010A ideal in space- and cost-sensitive systems.
