The ADF4351 allows implementation of fractional-N or integer-N phase-locked loop (PLL) frequency synthesizers if used with an external loop filter and external reference frequency.

The ADF4351 has an integrated voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) with a fundamental output frequency ranging from 2200 MHz to 4400 MHz. In addition, divide-by-1/2/4/8/16/32 or 64 circuits allow the user to generate RF output frequencies as low as 35 MHz. For applications that require isolation, the RF output stage can be muted. The mute function is both pin- and software-controllable. An auxiliary RF output is also available, which can be powered down if not in use.

Control of all the on-chip registers is through a simple 3-wire interface. The device operates with a power supply ranging from 3.0 V to 3.6 V and can be powered down when not in use.

This is one good product. Well Thought out. Easy to design and prtotye. I would have preferred filters after the divider network to reduce the harmonics. This would make it truly universal. A separate single output for this if possible. Hence Square wave and sinewave are both available simultaneously.

This is very good product for our application
This product has very good parameters and very good phase noise for high speed communications and wideband applications.

this product is the best choice for ham amateurs
Although ADF4351 (or his brother 4350) reveal good features even for radioamateurs, the datasheet has lack of informations about the order of commands to program the internal registers to get functioning this device. At this moment I still struggling with this lack of information to realize functional software for PIC. Anyway, thank you for the free samples you are the best.

RF synthesizer
very good product, but recomended for further improvements are wider attenuation range for both channels. This would eliminate an external power devider, if internal a 20 db attauation difference between both channels is possible

Very good example of integration. It can be used on a lot of application as a general purpose frequency source.

Dev Kit is very helpful, datasheet is great, part works well
We needed a simple LO that took minimal board room and was simple to communicate with. We did not use many of the special features and it did not take to long with the dev kit to get the adf4351 working. We would have liked to see more output power and maybe a higher max frequency if anything were to be changed.

Fast and simple.
Better signal to harmonics ratio. Higher output power. Add optional internal multiplier for better frequency range.

Better harmonic suppression
Better harmonic suppression. I was expecting the ADF4351 to fix the lack of harmonic suppression on the ADF4350 and it only marginally improved.
