Battery Chargers
Analog Devices offers a broad portfolio of battery charger IC devices for any rechargeable battery c hemistry, including Li-Ion, LiFePO4, lead acid, and nickel-based, for both wired and wireless applications. These high performance battery charging devices are offered in linear or switching topologies and are completely autonomous in operation. Our battery charger ICs offer many standard features for battery management and safety, including on-chip battery pre-conditioning, current limiting, temperature-controlled charging, monitoring and protection, telemetry via SMBus or I2C interface, and support for high voltage, multiple-cell and multi-chemistry batteries with a single device. ADI’s battery chargers support a wide range of applications such as lithium-ion battery monitoring, PV cell energy harvesting, industrial monitoring, wearable devices, and other portable equipment.
Battery Monitors & Fuel Gauges
Analog Devices’ integrated battery monitor ICs provide high accuracy measurements for precise voltag e determination. ADI’s battery fuel gauges accurately measure and report battery capacity in single cell or multicell handheld applications, with uncompromised charge accuracy thanks to a variety of unique sensing techniques that appear seamless to the user. Some models also provide battery voltage and temperature, while others integrate a sense resistor to minimize component count and increase accuracy even further.
Multifunction Battery Chargers
Analog Devices offers multifunctional power management integrated circuits (PMICs) that combine adva nced battery charging capabilities with multiple system rails, all within a compact form factor. These highly integrated multifunction battery chargers simplify design, reduce PCB space, and lower BOM costs while enabling seamless power management across input sources like wall adapters, USB ports, and lithium batteries. Featuring PowerPath control, high efficiency switch-mode power management, and precise thermal regulation, our PMICs ensure optimal battery charging and power flow, with support for high charge currents and accurate float voltage for portable applications.
USB Charging
Analog Devices’ USB charging and management products utilize key battery charging features and inclu de a PowerPath circuit topology that enables managed power flow, allowing a load to be powered from both VIN and the battery. Our USB charging products offer shorter charging times, instant-on operation (even with a dead battery), and more flexibility for the device designer. Both linear charging for simplicity, and switch mode for higher charging efficiency topologies are offered. Other key features of the USB power family include standalone operation with onboard charge termination, high voltage operation, and thermal regulation.
