Jim Williams’ Contribution to Analog Design
Bob Dobkin discusses Jim Williams’ unique contributions to analog circuit design. He explains that Jim Williams did the majority of the work in both circuits and the writing in the book, Analog Circuit Design, Volume 2, Immersion in the Black Art of Analog Design. One of Jim Williams’ strengths was his ability to explain the performance and operation of analog circuits, allowing designers to duplicate the circuits described. This provides designers with a tutorial for analog design. To be a good analog designer requires experience. Students today should be encouraged to consider going into analog design, as it is both rewarding and challenging.
