The TMC2240 is a smart high-performance stepper motor driver IC with serial communication interfaces (SPI, UART) and extensive diagnosis capabilities. It combines industries’ most advanced stepper motor driver based on the 256-usteps built-in indexer and two fully integrated 36V, 3.0A (max) H-Bridges plus non-dissipative Integrated Current Sensing (ICS).  

TMC2240 features abundant diagnostics and protections such as short protection / OCP, thermal shutdown, under voltage lockout. During thermal shutdown and under voltage lockout events the driver is disabled. Furthermore, TMC2240 provides functions to measure the driver temperature, estimate the motor temperature, and measure one external analog input.

The TMC2240-EVAL allows you to explore all functions of the TMC2240.

The TMC2240-EVAL-KIT is a set of one MCU board Landungsbruecke, one Eselsbruecke and one TMC2240-EVAL driver board. It allows for a quick and simple start within only minutes to make your motor turning, while still providing full access to all registers and full functionality and diagnostics.

For diagnosis, all signals between MCU and TMC2240 are accessible with probes on the bridge board. TMC2240-EVAL can be used with or without the Landungsbruecke MCU board.

All you need to get started is a power supply and ADI Trinamic's free and easy to use TMCL-IDE. This graphical user interface allows quick setup and supports the use of commands in direct mode, monitors real-time behavior visualized in graphs, and logs and stores data. All settings can simply be exported for your own firmware project.
