The TMC5271 is a miniaturized smart high-performance single-axis stepper motor controller and driver IC with serial communication interfaces (SPI and UART) and extensive diagnostic capabilities. Highest integration, high energy efficiency, and a small form factor enable miniaturized and scalable systems for cost-effective solutions.

StealthChop2™ ensures absolutely noiseless operation combined with maximum efficiency and the optimal motor torque control.

The TMC5271 combines a flexible 8-point ramp generator with reduced jerk for automatic positioning with a smart stepper motor driver based on a 256 microstep built-in indexer and two fully integrated 20V, 2.24AMAX H-bridges plus non-dissipative integrated current sensing (ICS), which eliminates bulky external sense resistors resulting in space and power savings.

The integrated power MOSFETs' low impedance results in high driving efficiency and minimal heat generation.

The typical total RDS(ON) (high side plus low side) is 0.155Ω with a maximum RMS current per H-bridge of IRMS = 1.6ARMS and a maximum output current per H-Bridge at IMAX = 3.0AMAX (limited by overcurrent protection).

The TMC5271 features abundant diagnostics and protection functions such as short-circuit protection/overcurrent protection, thermal shutdown, and undervoltage lockout.

The TMC5271 is available in a tiny 2.97mm × 3.13mm, 36-pin WLCSP package.

The TMC5271-EVAL-KIT allows you to explore all functions of the TMC5271.

The TMC5271-EVAL-KIT is a set of one MCU board Landungsbruecke, one Eselsbruecke and one TMC5271-EVAL driver board. It allows for a quick and simple start within only minutes to make your motor turning, while still providing full access to all registers and full functionality and diagnostics.

For diagnosis, all signals between MCU and TMC5271 are accessible with probes on the bridge board. TMC5271-EVAL-KIT can be used with or without the Landungsbruecke MCU board.

All you need to get started is a power supply and ADI Trinamic's free and easy to use TMCL-IDE. This graphical user interface allows quick setup and supports the use of commands in direct mode, monitors real-time behavior visualized in graphs, and logs and stores data. All settings can simply be exported for your own firmware project.
