The LTC3862-2 is a two-phase constant frequency, current mode boost and SEPIC controller that drives N-channel power MOSFETs. Two-phase operation reduces system filtering capacitance and inductance requirements.
The operating frequency can be set with an external resistor over a 75kHz to 500kHz range and can be synchronized to an external clock using the internal PLL. Multiphase operation is possible using the SYNC input, the CLKOUT output and the PHASEMODE control pin allowing 2-, 3-, 4-, 6- or 12-phase operation.
Other features include an internal 10V LDO with undervoltage lockout protection for the gate drivers, a precision RUN pin threshold with programmable hysteresis, soft-start and programmable leading edge blanking and maximum duty cycle.

Demonstration circuit 2006A-A is a multiphase high power, high voltage step-up DC/DC converter featuring the LTC3862-2 boost controller. This demo board converts a 6V to 36V input voltage to a 50V output at up to 10A with four phases by utilizing and synchronizing two LTC3862-2 controller IC’s.
Demonstration circuit 2006A-B is a multiphase high power, high voltage step-up DC/DC converter featuring two the LTC3862-2 boost controllers. This demo board converts a 6V to 36V input voltage to a 120V output at up to 2.5A with two stages. The first stage converts the input voltage to 50V. The second stage converts the 50V to 120V and each stage uses one LTC3862-2.
Demonstration circuit 1891A is a 2-phase high efficiency nonisolated SEPIC (Single Ended Primary Inductor Converter) converter featuring the LTC3862-2 switching controller. The DC1891A converts a 6V to 60V input to a 12V output and provides 6A of output current. The DC1891A can be easily modified to generate output voltages in the range from 0.8V to 48V.
