The ADIS16385 iSensor® device is a complete inertial system that includes a tri-axis gyroscope and tri-axis accelerometer. Each sensor in the ADIS16385 combines industry-leading iMEMS® technology with signal conditioning that optimizes dynamic performance. The factory calibration characterizes each sensor for sensitivity, bias, alignment, and linear acceleration (gyro bias). As a result, each sensor has its own dynamic compensation formulas that provide accurate sensor measurements. The yaw-axis gyro-scope offers a 4× improvement in noise and in-run bias stability for applications that have greater requirements on one axis.

The ADIS16385 provides a simple, cost-effective method for integrating accurate, multiaxis inertial sensing into industrial systems, especially when compared with the complexity and investment associated with discrete designs. All necessary motion testing and calibration are part of the production process at the factory, greatly reducing system integration time. Tight orthogonal alignment simplifies inertial frame alignment in navigation systems. The SPI and register structure provide a simple interface for data collection and configuration control.

The ADIS16385 has a compatible pinout for systems that currently use ADIS1635x, ADIS1636x, and ADIS1640x IMU products. It comes in a module that is approximately 36 mm × 47 mm × 39 mm and has a standard connector interface.

The ADISUSB is not longer available for sale. The EVAL-ADIS2 provides a more advanced version of this function, but with some difference in product coverage.


The ADISUSB system provides a simple, PC-based tool, for evaluating iSensor products, for those who are not ready to integrate them into embedded processor systems. This system supports application software that enable basic demonstration, individual register access and data capture for each supported device. Each application software package comes with an installation wizard, which facilitates simple installation and also includes a simple USB-driver package that is easy to use. All software packages associated with the ADISUSB are compatible with the 32-bit versions of Windows XP, Vista and 7. The ADISUSB circuit board is 0.125” thick, which enables pre-drilled, pre-tapped mounting holes for each iSensor device. The mounting holes accommodate M2x0.4mm machine screws. The integrated power system eliminates the need for external power supplies in most cases, but does provide for an external power supply input, for supply-sensitivity testing. The power system uses the USB’s +5V and provides a linear regulator option for +3.3V devices.

The ADIS16385/PCB is a breakout board, which provides (1)ADIS16385AMLZ and (1) interface PCB to simplify the process of prototyping during the early stages of system design and evaluation. The ADIS16385AMLZ is a fully-calibrated, tactical-grade MEMS IMU, which provides a serial peripheral interface (SPI) for all digital communications. It provides a dual-row, 24-pin connector interface that minimizes board space but does not support standard ribbon cable connections. The interface PCB provides access to the ADIS16385AMLZ, using a dual-row, 16-pin connector, which supports standard ribbon cable systems and hand-soldering connection techniques. The interface PCB also provides two sets of mounting holes: one set of holes for attaching the ADIS16385AMLZ to the interface PCB and another set of holes for mounting the interface board to the system’s frame. The first set of holes line up with the ADIS16385AMLZ's mounting holes and are pre-tapped for use with M2x0.4mm machine screws. The second set of holes are in each corner of the interface PCB and support M2.5 or 4-40 machine screws.
