The ADGM1001/ADGM1002/ADGM1003 is a wideband, single-pole, two-throw (SP2T) switch, fabricated using Analog Devices, Inc., micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) switch technology. This technology enables a small form factor, wide RF bandwidth, highly linear, low insertion loss switch that is operational down to 0 Hz/dc, making it an ideal solution for a wide range of RF and precision equipment switching needs. The device is packaged in a 24-lead, 5.00 mm × 4.00 mm × 0.90 mm, land grid array (LGA) package.

An integrated control chip generates the high voltage necessary to electrostatically actuate the switch via a complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS)-/low voltage transistor-transistor logic (LVTTL)-compatible parallel interface. All switches are independently controllable.

Multifunction pin names may be referenced by their relevant function only.

EVAL-ADGM1001

Evaluating the ADGM1001 0 Hz/DC to 34 GHz, SPDT, MEMS Switch

Features and Benefits

  • Single-supply voltage: 3.3 V
  • Wide frequency range: DC to 34 GHz
  • SMA connectors for RF signals
  • Parallel interface and SPI
  • On-board CALIBRATION THRU transmission line for analyzer calibration

Product Details

The user guide describes the EVAL-ADGM1001SDZ evaluation board for the ADGM1001, a dual-chip, RF switching solution containing a single-pole, two-throw (SPDT), microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) switch, and a control chip copackaged in a compact, 5.00 mm × 4.00 mm × 0.90 mm, LGA package.

The SPDT switch uses Analog Devices, Inc., MEMS switch technology, providing optimum performance in terms of bandwidth, power handling capability, and linearity for RF applications. The control chip generates the high voltage signals needed for the MEMS switch and allows the user to control its operation through a simple and flexible complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS)-/low voltage transistor-transistor logic (LVTTL)-compliant parallel interface as well as via a serial peripheral interface (SPI). It is possible to daisy-chain multiple ADGM1001 devices together to enable the configuration of multiple devices with a minimal number of digital lines.

For SPI, the EVAL-ADGM1001SDZ connects to the USB port of a PC via the SDP board. The EVAL-SDP-CB1Z board (SDP-B controller board) is available to order at via the Analog Devices website at www.analog.com/SDP-B.

The EVAL-ADGM1001SDZ comes fitted with connectors for RF and control signals as well as links to control the operation of the switch and evaluate its performance.

For full details on the ADGM1001, see the ADGM1001 data sheet, which should be consulted in conjunction with the user guide when using the EVAL-ADGM1001SDZ evaluation board.

EVAL-24LGA54EBZ

Evaluation Board for the 24-Lead LGA Devices in the Switches and Multiplexers Portfolio

Features and Benefits

  • 24-lead, 5mm × 4mm LGA evaluation board
  • Easily changeable socket for the main device
  • SMA connectors for the input and output of signals
  • Integrated Arduino shield support

Product Details

The EVAL-24LGA54EBZ enables easy evaluation of the 24- lead land grid array (LGA) package devices in the Switches and Multiplexers Portfolio that are purchased separately. The EVAL-24LGA54EBZ is supplied with a socket to secure a 24-lead LGA device to the evaluation board without the need for soldering.

Figure 1 in the User Guide shows the EVAL-24LGA54EBZ. A 24-lead LGA device can be easily inserted into the central socket of the evaluation board that is designed for flexible testing of various switch configurations. Each device pin connects to a header (K1 to K17), allowing users to route signals, tie pins to ground, or configure the pins as needed. K7 to K13 support general input/output (I/O) or ground connections. The EVAL-24LGA54EBZ supports the following two control modes: internal logic using K14 to K17 or serial peripheral interface (SPI) using K1 to K4. The control mode is selected through K5, where connecting it to GND enables internal control and connecting it to VDD enables SPI. The EVAL-24LGA54EBZ has Subminiature Version A (SMA) connectors (J1 to J11) that connect directly to the device pins and are used for signal access, allowing users to easily apply or monitor control signals during testing.

The full specifications of the device under test (DUT) are available in the corresponding product data sheet, which must be consulted with the EVAL-24LGA54EBZ user guide when using the EVAL-24LGA54EBZ.
