The AD97481 is an 8-bit resolution, wideband, third generation member of the TxDAC series of high performance, low power CMOS digital-to-analog converters (DACs). The TxDAC family, consisting of pin-compatible 8-, 10-, 12-, and 14-bit DACs, is specifically optimized for the transmit signal path of communication systems. All of the devices share the same interface options, small outline package, and pinout, providing an upward or downward component selection path based on performance, resolution, and cost. The AD9748 offers exceptional ac and dc performance while supporting update rates up to 210 MSPS.

The AD9748’s low power dissipation makes it well suited for portable and low power applications. Its power dissipation can be further reduced to 60 mW with a slight degradation in performance by lowering the full-scale current output. In addition, a power-down mode reduces the standby power dissipation to approximately 15 mW. A segmented current source architecture is combined with a proprietary switching technique to reduce spurious components and enhance dynamic performance.

Edge-triggered input latches and a 1.2 V temperature-compensated band gap reference have been integrated to provide a complete monolithic DAC solution. The digital inputs support 3 V CMOS logic families.

Product Detail

The SDP-H1 is a high speed controller board for the System Demonstration Platform (SDP). The SDP-H1 has a Xilinx® Spartan 6 and an ADSP-BF527 processor with connectivity to the PC through a USB 2.0 high speed port. Controller boards allow for the configuration and capture of data on daughter boards from the PC via USB.

The SDP-H1 has a FMC low pin count ( LPC) connector with full differential LVDS and singled ended LVCMOS support. It also has the 120 pin connector, found on the SDP-B which exposes the Blackfin processors peripherals. This connector provides a configurable Serial, Parallel I2C and SPI and GPIO communications lines to the attached daughter board. The PC side software application for controlling the attached daughter board is provided with each of the daughter product evaluation boards or Circuits from the Lab reference Circuits.

The System Demonstration Platform is a collection of controller boards, interposer boards, and daughter boards, used for easy, low cost evaluation of ADI components and reference circuits. The AD9740ACP-PCBZ/AD9742ACP-PCBZ/AD9744ACP-PCBZ/AD9748ACP-PCBZ evaluation board allows users to easily set up and test the 32-lead lead frame chip scale package (LFCSP) of the AD9740, AD9742, AD9744, and AD9748 devices. Paying careful attention to layout and circuit design, combined with a prototyping area, allows the user to effectively evaluate the AD9740, AD9742, AD9744, and AD9748 in applications that require high resolution and high speed conversion.

The AD9740ACP-PCBZ/AD9742ACP-PCBZ/AD9744ACP-PCBZ/AD9748ACP-PCBZ evaluation board provide flexibility to operate the AD9740, AD9742, AD9744, and AD9748 in various configurations. Possible output configurations include transformer coupled, resistor terminated, and single and differential outputs. The digital inputs are driven from various word generators, and an on-board option can add a resistor network for proper load termination. Users can use the power-down feature of the AD9740, AD9742, AD9744, and AD9748 and can select clock and data modes.
