Surge Stoppers Video Product Brief

2017-09-18

Historically, overvoltage and overcurrent protection (e.g., load dump protection) was achieved using bulky capacitors, TVS diodes, and fuses, but this discrete solution consumes a lot of real estate, and does not offer continuous operation through transient events. Our family of High Voltage Surge Stoppers, Overvoltage Protection, Overcurrent Protection and Circuit Breaker ICs offer solid front-end protection in small, low power, easy to design solutions that increase system reliability.

Our surge stopper products protect loads from high voltage transients. They regulate the output during an overvoltage event, such as load dump in vehicles, by controlling the gate of an external MOSFET. The output is limited to a safe value allowing the loads to continue functioning. The devices offer a range of functionality, including micropower operation, a floating architecture that allows extremely high input voltages, integrated ideal diode functionality which blocks reverse current, linear and high efficiency switching surge stopper operation, and more.

This video provides an overview of the product family and highlights the benefits the products provide.
