The DS2431 is a 1024-bit, 1-Wire® EEPROM chip organized as four memory pages of 256 bits each. Data is written to an 8-byte scratchpad, verified, and then copied to the EEPROM memory. As a special feature, the four memory pages can individually be write protected or put in EPROM-emulation mode, where bits can only be changed from a 1 to a 0 state. The DS2431 communicates over the single-conductor 1-Wire bus. The communication follows the standard 1-Wire protocol. Each device has its own unalterable and unique 64-bit ROM registration number that is factory lasered into the chip. The registration number is used to address the device in a multidrop, 1-Wire net environment.

USB-to-1-Wire/iButton Adapter
Product Detail
The DS9481R is a USB-to-1-Wire adapter for easy PC connectivity to 1-Wire devices. The adapter provides an RJ11 connector with the signals to communicate with all 1-Wire and iButton devices that support a 3.3V data I/O level. Additionally, the adapter provides the support and signaling to program 1-Wire/iButton EEPROM and one-time programmable (OTP)/EPROM devices. To provide a total hardware solution, the DS9481R can readily be used with the DS9120 socket adapter to create a 1-Wire PC programmer for 1-Wire peripheral devices (contact factory for more information). The equivalent peripheral hardware solution for the iButton is the DS1402D-DR8.

Product Detail
The DS9090K provides the hardware and software necessary to evaluate and operate 1-Wire® products in an easy-to-use PC environment. All 1-Wire EEPROM, EPROM, and ROM devices are readable with the DS9090K. All 1-Wire devices with memory or PIO/switches can be written with the DS9090K except 1-Wire EPROM devices*. In this way, the engineer can evaluate 1-Wire chips for potential design purposes or support end-product development activity. Kit operation requires a host PC. Demonstration software consists of the OneWireViewer (a Java™ program). For 32-bit and 64-bit Windows® operating systems, the OneWireViewer comes as part of the 1-Wire Drivers install package. For other operating systems, refer to the online version of the OneWireViewer.

1-Wire Device Evaluation Kit

The DS9090EVKIT evaluation system (EV system) consists of a DS9490+ USB-to-1-Wire®/iButton® adapter for PC connectivity, a DS9120P+ socket board with RJ11 cable, and seven different 1-Wire devices. This EV system provides the special hardware and software system to exercise the features of 1-Wire devices with memory or PIO/switches, except 1-Wire EPROM devices. (EPROM devices such as the DS2502 and DS2506 require a different adapter (DS9481R-3C7) to perform an EPROM write. This adapter can be purchased separately.) 1-Wire EPROM devices are available for sampling.
The EV system software consists of the OneWireViewer (a Java® program) that runs under Windows ® OS and comes as part of the 1-Wire drivers installation package.
