Comparators
A comparator is used to compare a measurable quantity with a reference or standard such as two volta
ges or currents. It outputs a digital signal showing the results. Analog Devices offers an extensive portfolio of high speed and low power comparators and this allows us to provide our customers with more complete signal chain solutions. Our comparator offerings range from the fastest Si-based comparator on the market today to very low power CMOS comparators that consume only microamperes of power. Current Sense Amplifiers
Analog Devices’ current sense amplifiers offer excellent performance for a wide array of automotive,
motor control, and power management applications. These devices accurately amplify small voltages in the presence of large common-mode voltages and provide high bandwidth, as well as level shifting and bidirectional capability. Excellent DC and AC accuracy over a wide temperature range from –40°C to +125°C minimizes errors in your measurement loop while not sacrificing on cost and package size.
Difference Amplifiers
A difference amplifier is a special purpose amplifier designed to measure differential signals, othe
rwise known as a subtractor. A key feature of a difference amplifier is its ability to remove unwanted common mode signals, known as common mode rejection (CMR). Unlike most types of amplifiers, difference amplifiers are typically able to measure voltages beyond the supply rails, and are used in applications where large dc or ac common-mode voltages are present. They are ideal for current and voltage monitoring. Analog Devices offers a range of difference amplifiers, optimized for low distortion, low power, or high voltage performance.
Differential Amplifiers
Differential amplifiers from Analog Devices offer precision DC specs and are designed to better reje
ct high frequency PSRR and CMRR through their differential input and output architectures. The differential input and output also offer system improvement by reducing the total harmonic distortion received by the ADC. Differential amplifiers allow the process of single-ended input to complementary differential outputs or differential inputs to differential outputs. These amplifiers offer low distortion to drive precision and high speed ADCs, and come with a VOCM pin that provides a critical but convenient solution when interfacing with ADCs.
Instrumentation Amplifiers
Analog Devices' instrumentation amplifiers (in-amps) are precision gain blocks that have a different
ial input and an output that may be differential or single-ended with respect to a reference terminal. These devices amplify the difference between two input signal voltages while rejecting any signals that are common to both inputs. The in-amps are widely used in many industrial, measurement, data acquisition, and medical applications where dc precision and gain accuracy must be maintained within a noisy environment, and where large common-mode signals (usually at the ac power line frequency) are present.
Linear Multipliers & Dividers
A linear multiplier/divider is a device that produces an output voltage or current that is proportio
nal to the product of two or more independent input voltages or currents. In addition to multiplying and dividing, multipliers can perform squaring, square-rooting, and modulation functions. Applications include radar, communications, and industrial controls where a real-time response is required. Analog Devices offers the widest selection of linear multipliers and dividers.

RMS to DC Converters
Rms-to-DC converters manufactured by Analog Devices are used in a wide variety of applications where
precision and low power measurement of AC signals is the prime objective. An ADI Rms-to-DC converter offers real-time measurements, meaning there are no latency issues such as those that limit the frequency response of other technologies—the DC output is simply the equivalent of the rms input, over a wide range of input frequencies, and for complex waveforms not limited to sine waves. ADI offers a wide range of rms-to-DC converters optimized for the most demanding performance, power, and cost applications, satisfying true rms needs.
Sample & Hold Amplifiers
Analog Devices offers a portfolio of sample-and-hold amplifiers that combine speed with precision. A
DI sample-and-hold amplifiers can acquire a signal in 700 ns and hold it with a droop rate of 0.01 µV/µs. These devices are up to 14-bit accurate, with low aperture jitter and output impedance, and they are available in commercial, industrial, and military temperature ranges.
