SDR for Tunable 80 MHz Spectrum Capture

2023-06-29

The ADRV9001 offers two transmit and two receive channels, each with 40 MHz of Instantaneous Bandwidth (IBW). These channels can be fully synchronized in the ADRV9001, allowing them to be phase coherently bonded to achieve 80 MHz of bandwidth with accurate phase response across the full range. A significant number of use cases can be addressed with the ADRV9001 using this channel bonding approach to double the bandwidth for one channel, while maintaining low power and excellent dynamic range.

This demonstration utilizes Vanteon’s vProtean Evaluation Kit which is based on the Analog Devices ADRV9001. The kit consists of a vProtean SDR System-on-Module (SoM) mounted on a Carrier Board with custom firmware that has been adapted to implement and display the 80 MHz of spectral bandwidth. The Multi-chip Synchronization (MCS) feature of the ADRV9001 is actively used to bond the two channels with a relative center frequency offset of 40 MHz at an arbitrary operating frequency.
