Micropower, Dual-Channel Digital Isolators, Default High (1/1 Channel Directionality)
The ADUM1241 is a micropower, dual-channel digital isolator which has a default high and 1/1 directionality based on the Analog Devices, Inc., iCoupler® technology,(Quad-channel products available). Combining high speed CMOS and monolithic air core transformer technologies, these isolation components provide outstanding performance characteristics superior to alternatives, such as optocoupler devices, yet require the lowest power of any available isolation product.
Packaged in an 8-lead SOIC, this series of quad, 3 kV digital isolation devices operate with supplies as low as 2.5 V, offering the lowest available power consumption at a fraction of the power of comparable isolators at comparable data rates (up to 2 Mbps). In addition, all models provide low pulse width distortion (<8 ns for A grade) and an input glitch filter for extraneous noise disturbance protection.
All models operate with the supply voltage on either side ranging as low as 2.25 V, providing compatibility with lower voltage systems, as well as enabling voltage translation functionality across the isolation barrier. All products also have an output default logic state in the absence of the input power. When power is first applied, or is not yet applied to the input side, the ADuM1240 and ADuM1241 have a default high output and the ADuM1245 and ADuM1246 have a default low output.
- Outstanding Power Performance. These 3 kV digital isolators operate with 2.5 V supplies.
- Distortion and Noise Protection. Low pulse width distortion (< 8 ns for A grade models) and an input glitch filter for extraneous noise disturbance protection.
iCoupler Technology. Patented Analog Devices technology combining high speed CMOS and monolithic air core transformer technologies.
- General-purpose, low power, multichannel isolation
- 1 MHz low power SPI
- 4 mA to 20 mA loop process control
This product has been released to the market. The data sheet contains all final specifications and operating conditions. For new designs, ADI recommends utilization of these products.
The board follows best printed circuit board (PCB) design practices for 4-layer boards, including a full power and ground plane on each side of the isolation barrier. No other EMI or noise mitigation design features are included on this board. In cases of very high speed operation or when ultralow emissions are required, refer to the AN-1109 application note for additional board layout techniques.
