ADSP-2184:  16-bit, 40 MIPS, 5v, 2 serial ports, host port, 20KB RAM

Product Description

The ADSP-2184 is a member of the ADSP-218x family. The ADSP-2184 is the lowest cost pin compatible device in the ADSP-218x family. It can be designed into systems the same way as all other ADSP-2100 devices. All previous ADSP-2100 code is code compatible to the ADSP-2184. ADI recently disclosed plans for a new ADSP-219x series. With speeds beyond 300MIPS, this new series is ADSP-218x code-compatible.

The ADSP-2184 combines the ADSP-2100 family base architecture (three computational units, data address generators and a program sequencer) with two serial ports, a 16-bit internal DMA port, a byte DMA port, a programmable timer, Flag I/O, and extensive interrupt capabilities.

Benefits:
- Algebraic assembly language supports C language-style constructs for easy programming
- 100-lead LQFP package provides for space and power savings (16mm x 16mm)
- On-chip RAM and 4 DMA ports make reprogramming easy
- 16-bit DMA port makes bus interfacing easier
- 5 sleep and powerdown modes maximize battery life.

Features

  • 25 ns instruction cycle time (40 MIPS)
  • 4K words of on-chip program RAM
  • 4K words of on-chip data memory RAM
  • 1.4 mA/MIPS
  • 16-bit internal DMA port for high speed access to on-chip memory
  • 8-bit DMA port to byte memory for transparent program and data memory transfers
  • Byte memory interface for storage of data tables and program overlays
  • Programmable memory strobe and separate I/O memory space permits "glueless" system
  • ADSP-2100 Family code and function compatible
  • 100-lead LQFP

Model
The model number is a specific version of a generic that can be purchased or sampled.

Status
Status indicates the current lifecycle of the product. This can be one of 4 stages:
  • Pre-Release: The model has not been released to general production, but samples may be available.
  • Production: The model is currently being produced, and generally available for purchase and sampling.
  • Last Time Buy: The model has been scheduled for obsolescence, but may still be purchased for a limited time.
  • Obsolete: The specific part is obsolete and no longer available. Other models listed in the table may still be available (if they have a status that is not obsolete).
Package Description
The package for this IC (i.e. DIP, SOIC, BGA). An Evaluation Board is a board engineered to show the performance of the model, the part is included on the board.

For detailed drawings and chemical composition please consult our  Package Site

Pin Count
Pin Count is the number of pins, balls, or pads on the device. Pin-out diagrams & pin function descriptions may be found in the datasheet.

Temperature Range
This is the acceptable operating range of the device. The various ranges specified are as follows:
  • Commercial: 0 to +70 degrees Celsius
  • Military : -55 to +125 degrees Celsius
  • Industrial: Temperature ranges may vary by model. Please consult the datasheet for more information.
  • Automotive: -40 to +125 degrees Celsius
