The current-output DAC8043A provides a true 12-bit accurate (±1/2 LSB) digital-to-analog converter in compact 8-pin packages. Using a brand new circuit design, on a fine line geometry process the DAC8043A takes dynamic performance to a new level. Over 150% improvement in multiplying bandwidth (2.4 MHz) and serial data loading rate (20 MHz), combined with a 3 to 1 chip size reduction, enables the new DAC8043A to be offered in one of the industry's smallest surface mount packages, the TSSOP-8. As a direct Pin-for-Pin Upgrade to the DAC8043, this part is ideal for applications where PC board space is at a premium. In addition, improved linearity and gain-error performance permit reduced parts count through the elimination of trimming components. Separate input clock and load DAC control lines allow full user control of data loading and analog output. Consuming only 10 micro amps from a single +5 V power supply, the DAC8043A is the ideal low power, small size, high performance solution to applications such as: Programmable Loop Controllers for Industrial Control, Programmable Amplifiers and Attenuators, Digitally Controlled Calibration and Filters, and Motion Control Systems. The DAC8043A is specified for operation in two electrical grades (1/2 LSB and 1 LSB) and over the extended industrial (-40°C to +85°C) temperature range.
