The TMC5221/TMC5222 are miniaturized, smart, high-performance, single-axis stepper motor controller and driver ICs optimized for mobile battery-operated equipment and space-constrained applications. These come with serial interfaces (SPI for TMC5221 and I2C for TMC5222), and extensive safety, protection and diagnostic capabilities. Highest integration, sensorless load feedback, high energy efficiency, and a number of low-power modes enable miniaturized and cost-effective solutions. StealthChop2™ ensures absolutely noiseless operation combined with maximum efficiency and optimal motor torque control. TriCoder allows full-scale current detecting and monitoring of the external force moving the motor.
The TMC5221/TMC5222 combine a flexible, eight-point ramp generator with reduced jerk for automatic positioning with a smart 256 microstep 16V, 1.4ARMS stepper motor driver with non-dissipative integrated current sensing (ICS).
The TMC5221/TMC5222 integrate safety functions like automatic safe position motion triggered by two hardware inputs and OTP-based limiting values to prevent any hazardous motion or out-of-specification motor current.
The TMC5221/TMC5222 feature abundant diagnostics and protection functions such as adaptive short-circuit protection and overcurrent protection, ADC supply voltage and temperature monitoring.
