A2B Automotive Audio Bus Technology
Analog Devices’ A2BTM Automotive Audio Bus is a simple, flexible, and cost-effective audio connectivity solution. A2B has been specifically designed for a wide variety of automotive, consumer, and industrial applications such as Road Noise Cancellation (RNC), In-Car Communications (ICC) and Unified Communications Systems (UCS), where low and deterministic latency are key system design criteria. With millions of links on the road from over 35 automotive manufacturers, A2B has established itself as the de facto digital audio data bus standard1.

ADI and its extensive network of 3rd party partners deliver complete solutions including software, evaluation boards, and hardware debug tools designed to accelerate the OEM’s time to market.
Advantages of ADI’s A2B Automotive Audio Bus Technology
At its core, A2B is a high-bandwidth (100Mbps), low-latency digital audio bus suitable for a variety of end markets and applications. However, there are many additional factors that contribute to A2B’s design-in success:
- Single main, multiple sub-node daisy chain architecture greatly simplifies wiring complexity (by up to 75%) and associated costs.
- Simple and easy-to-use architecture with zero software overhead reduces overall development time and investment.
- Expansive ecosystem of development tools and partners speeds time to market.
- Fully meets stringent automotive EMC/EMI and quality requirements.
At its inception, A2B audio bus technology was targeted to automotive audio and acoustics applications, including ANC/RNC, Personal Audio Zones (PAZ), eCall and other telematics systems. Today, A2B is seeing increased deployment in tangential consumer/industrial audio markets.
For example, in the Consumer market, A2B enables applications in unified communications and ProAV, hearables, and home theater. For Intelligent Buildings, it can play a key role in elevating security and surveillance. In Avionics, it offers a lightweight alternative for enabling inflight entertainment and cabin connectivity.
