The LTC7841 is a high performance PolyPhase® single output synchronous boost converter controller that drives two N-channel power MOSFET stages out-of-phase. Multiphase operation reduces input and output capacitor requirements and allows the use of smaller inductors than the single-phase equivalent. Synchronous rectification increases efficiency, reduces power loss and eases thermal requirements, enabling high power boost applications. The output voltage can be adjusted up to 60V with 0.2% resolution via a PMBus-compliant serial interface. The serial interface can also be used to read back fault status, input/output current, input/output voltage and temperature. System configuration and monitoring is supported by the LTpowerPlay® development system.

PolyPhase operation allows the LTC7841 to be configured for 2-, 3-, 4-, 6-, and 12-phase operation.

Product Detail

Demonstration circuit 2798A is a high voltage, dual-phase single output boost converter with 10V to 16V input range. The output voltage is adjustable from VIN to 48V. And the output can supply a 10A maximum load current. The demo board has a LTC7841 controller, which is a 60V dual-phase single output boost controller with digital power system management. Please see the LTC7841 data sheet for more detailed information.

The DC2798A powers up to default settings and produces power based on the command from the serial bus communication. This allows easy evaluation of the DC/DC converter. To fully explore the extensive power system management features of the part, download the GUI software LTpowerPlay® onto your PC and use ADI’s I2C/SMBus/PMBus dongle DC1613A to connect to the board. LTpowerPlay allows the user to reconfigure the part on-the-fly, view telemetry of voltage, current, temperature and fault status.
