Overview

  • Conversion loss
    HMC128: 7 dB
    HMC128G8: 10 dB
  • Local oscillator (LO) to radio frequency (RF) and intermediate frequency (IF) isolation
    HMC128: >36 dB
    HMC128G8: >30 dB
  • Input IP3 (HMC218): 18 dBm
  • No dc bias required (HMC128)
  • Die size (HMC128): 1.45 mm × 1.45 mm × 0.1 mm
  • High third-order intercept: 18 dB

The HMC128 devices are miniature double-balanced mixers available in a chip (HMC128) and a hermetic surface mount package (HMC128G8), both of which can be used as an upconverter or downconverter. The devices are passive diode/balun type mixers with high dynamic range. Noise figure is essentially equal to the conversion loss. The mixers can handle larger signal levels than most active mixers due to the high third order intercept. MMIC implementation provides exceptional balance in the circuit resulting in high LO/RF and LO/IF isolations. The HMC128 can operate over a wide LO drive input of 9 dBm to 15 dBm.
