Overview

  • Output frequency range: 250 MHz to 2400 MHz
  • Noise figure: 5.7 dB at 1960 MHz
  • OIP3 at 1960 MHz: 29 dBm at PIN = 0 dBm per tone
  • 2 digital attenuators, each with 31 dB range
  • 1 dB attenuation step size
  • Single SPI port
  • Single supply: 4.5 V to 5.5 V
  • 40-lead, 6 mm × 6 mm LFCSP package

The ADL5592 is a digitally programmable variable gain amplifier (VGA) designed for use from 250 MHz to 2400 MHz. Two digitally programmable attenuators are cascaded with a high linearity fixed-gain amplifier. The device also includes a mixer, which can be used to mix the transmitted signal into an adjacent receive band for loopback testing.

The ADL5592 can be used in conjunction with a direct-to-RF modulator, such as ADL537x and ADL539x, in cellular communications systems such as GSM/EDGE.

The ADL5592 is available in a 6 mm × 6 mm, 40-lead exposed-paddle LFCSP package. The device operates from the −40°C to +85°C temperature range.

    Tools & Simulations

    ADIsimRF

ADIsimRF is an easy-to-use RF signal chain calculator. Cascaded gain, noise, distortion and power consumption can be calculated, plotted and exported for signal chains with up to 50 stages. ADIsimRF also includes an extensive data base of device models for ADI’s RF and mixed signal components.

    ADIsimPLL™

ADIsimPLL enables the rapid and reliable evaluation of new high performance PLL products from ADI. It is the most comprehensive PLL Synthesizer design and simulation tool available today. Simulations performed include all key non-linear effects that are significant in affecting PLL performance. ADIsimPLL removes at least one iteration from the design process, thereby speeding the design- to-market.

    Product Details

ADL5592-EVALZ is a fully populated, 4-layer, FR4-based evaluation board. For normal operation, it requires a 5 V/300 mA power suppply. The 5 V power supply should be connected to the pins labeled TP1A (5 V) and TP2A (GND). The RF input and output signals are accessible via SMA connectors. PC-based programming software can be downloaded at www.analog.com (PC must have a 25-pin printer port). The board ships with a custom cable which can be used to connect the evaluation board's P2A connector to the PC's 25-pin printer port.
