The MAX96714/F/R deserializers convert a GMSL™2/1 input to MIPI CSI-2 output. The devices allow a simultaneously transmit bidirectional control channel while forward video transmissions are in progress. The MAX96714/F/R operate at a fixed rate of 3Gbps or 6Gbps in the forward direction and 187.5Mbps in the reverse direction.

Data can be transmitted over low-cost 50Ω Coax or 100Ω STP cables that meet the GMSL2 channel specifications.

Product Details

The AD-GMSLCAMRPI-ADP# enables connecting GMSL serializer and deserializer EV kits to a wide range of cameras and processing platforms supporting industry standard ribbon cable connectors. The adapter consists of three sections that can be broken apart from each other, having with the following functionalities:

  • Two ribbon cable adapters containing a 15-pin and a 22-pin connector routed to each other. The 15-pin connector supports 2 MIPI lanes, while the 22-pin connector supports 4 MIPI lanes.
  • A GMSL serializer EV kit adapter with two 22-pin ribbon cable connectors, for connecting cameras to either of the input MIPI ports of the GMSL serializers
  • A GMSL deserializer EV kit adapter with a22-pin ribbon cable connector connected to each of the output MIPI ports, for connecting to Raspberry Pi and Nvidia development platforms, or other processing platform supporting the 15-pin or 22-pin ribbon cable connector. A USB Type-A connector is available to supply 5V @ 4A.

Product Details

The MAX96714 CSI evaluation kit (EV kit) provides a proven design to evaluate the MAX96714, MAX96714F, MAX96714R high-bandwidth gigabit multimedia serial link (GMSL) deserializer with CSI and full-duplex control channel with the use of a standard FAKRA coaxial cable. The EV kit also includes Windows® 7 and Windows® 10 softwares that provide a simple graphical user interface (GUI) for exercising features of the device. The EV kit comes with a MAX96714/14F/14R IC installed.

For complete GMSL evaluation using a standard FAKRA coaxial cable, order the MAX96714 CSI EV kit and a companion serializer board (MAX9295A Coax EV kit referenced in this document).
