The Teridian™ 78M6612 is a highly integrated, single-phase, power and energy measurement and monitoring system-on-chip (SoC) that includes a 32-bit compute engine (CE), an MPU core, RTC, and flash. Our Single Converter Technology® with a 22-bit delta-sigma ADC, four analog inputs, digital temperature compensation, and precision voltage reference supports a wide range of single-phase, dual-outlet power measurement applications with very few external components.
With measurement technology leveraged from Maxim’s flagship utility metering ICs, the device offers features including 32KB of flash program memory, 2KB shared RAM, three low-power modes with internal timer or external event wake-up, two UARTs, I²C/MICROWIRE® EEPROM I/F, and an in-system programmable flash.
A complete array of ICE and development tools, programming libraries and reference designs enable rapid development and certification of power and energy measurement solutions that meet the most demanding worldwide electricity metering standards.

Product Detail

The TSC flash programmer model TFP2 provides a stand-alone flash memory programming tool for Teridian's embedded controllers. The TFP2 facilitates flash programming in a manufacturing production environment requiring minimum ancillary equipment. Once the TFP2 has been initialized with the target's program code, the target's flash memory can be programmed either manually through operator pushbutton, or controlled by a factory automation computer (ATE).

The Outlet Measurement Unit Model OMU1-S-WW (OMU1) is a low-cost power monitor employing the Teridian 78M6612 SOC, a single-phase power and energy measurement IC supporting up to two outlets. The 78M6612 IC monitors the AC line voltages and load current. The embedded demo firmware calculates the RMS line voltage and RMS load current, Watts, VA, VAR and power factor for a single outlet. Access to real-time data in the 78M6612 is available via a serial interface to a PC using a Command Line Interface (CLI). A USB interface on the OMU1-S-WW provides the serial connection and DC power to the 78M6612.

Included with the OMU1-S-WW is a Windows® based Graphical User Interface (GUI) for simplified access to the following measurement data and controls:

  • Power, current, voltage and power factor indicator dials
  • Adjustable display scales
  • Minimum and peak parameter tracking
  • Selectable strip chart display format
  • Narrow-band versus wide-band measurement
  • Selectable sample size averaging
  • Accumulated energy usage and expense tracking

Product Detail

The Teridian Outlet Measurement Unit, Model OMU1-S-RF, is a low-cost power monitor utilizing the Teridian 78M6612 SOC. The Teridian 78M6612 monitors the AC line voltages and load current, and controls switching of an internal load relay. The embedded firmware calculates the RMS line voltage and RMS load current, watts, VA, VAR and power factor. The real time data is transmitted to a PC for display in a Windows® based Graphical User Interface (GUI). The 78M6612's UART interface is used as the communications link to a customer supplied RF module for the OMU1-S-RF.

The OMU1-S-RF evaluation kit is intended to be used for development and integration of a separate communications interface. Included with the OMU1-S-RF is a pair of isolated daughter boards and a Windows based Graphical User Interface (GUI) for simplified access to the following measurement data and controls:
