ADI AND UNIVERSITY OF LIMERICK OFFER 5 PETER REAL SCHOLARSHIPS
A special presentation to acknowledge a scholarship program established in honor of our former chief technology officer, Peter Real, took place in Limerick on March 4.
The Peter Real Analog Devices Scholarship is awarded to superior students from the United States who have crossed the pond to study at the University of Limerick.
Since the program was announced in June 2020 by the University of Limerick (UL) and ADI, six U.S. students have been awarded scholarships to pursue undergraduate degrees at the university.
Peter’s wife and daughter attended the event where CEO Vince Roche and Prof. Kerstin Mey, President of UL, presented sculptures to the students.
The scholarship program honors the principles Peter espoused—those of curiosity, lifelong learning, a global mindset, care for others, and the potential for people to become better than they were before. He was committed to the value of education in the lives of individuals and the dynamics of society.
“Peter was an engineering industry giant, holding nine patents and having deep experience across different engineering roles, mentoring many future engineering and business leaders,” said Vince Roche, who was not only a colleague of Peter, but a close friend too. “Throughout his career, Peter nurtured technology development at UL as well as in the United States and advised many research bodies across the globe.”
Roche went on to say, “It was Peter’s indomitable spirit that balanced realism and optimism, recognizing the challenges we face with honesty and integrity, but believing firmly in humanity’s ability to overcome them. When we thought about how to recognize Peter’s contribution to our company and to the industry, it was a natural decision to fund scholarships that represented his personal and professional relationships with the United States, Ireland, and his alma mater, the University of Limerick.”
The students hail from Michigan, California, Ohio, and Boston and are pursuing a variety of degrees including Bachelor of Science in biological and chemical sciences and Bachelor of Science in environmental science.
