ADSP-21467

High Performance Fourth Generation DSP
Manufactured by:

Product Details

The fourth generation of SHARC® processors, which includes the ADSP-21462W, ADSP-21465W, ADSP-21467, ADSP-21469 and ADSP-21469W offers increased performance, hardware-based filter accelerators, audio and application-focused peripherals, and new memory configurations capable of supporting the latest surround-sound decoder algorithms. All devices are pin-compatible with each other and completely code-compatible with all prior SHARC processors. These newest members of the SHARC Processor family are based on a single-instruction, multiple-data (SIMD) core, which supports both 32-bit fixed-point and 32-/40-bit floating-point arithmetic formats making them particularly suitable for high-performance audio applications.

The ADSP-21467 offers the highest performance – 450 MHz/2700 MFLOPs -- within the fourth generation SHARC processor family. This level of performance makes the ADSP-21467 particularly well suited to address the increasing requirements of the professional and automotive audio market segments. In addition to its higher core performance, the ADSP-21467 includes additional processing blocks such as FIR, IIR, and FFT accelerators to increase the total performance of the system. There is a new feature called Variable Instruction Set Architecture (VISA) that allows the code size to be decreased by 20% to 30% and effectively increase the memory size availability. The fourth generation DSP allows the ability to connect to faster external memory by providing a glueless interface to 16-bit wide DDR2 SDRAMs.

Fourth-generation SHARC processors also integrate application-specific peripherals designed to simplify hardware design, minimize design risks, and ultimately reduce time to market. Grouped together, and broadly named the Digital Applications Interface (DAI), these functional blocks may be connected to each other or to external pins via the software-programmable Signal Routing Unit (SRU). The SRU is an innovative architectural feature that enables complete and flexible routing amongst DAI blocks. Peripherals connected through the SRU include but are not limited to serial ports, SPI ports, S/PDIF Tx/Rx, and an 8-Channel asynchronous sample rate converter block. The fourth generation SHARC allows data from the serial ports to be directly transferred to external memory by the DMA controller. Other peripherals such as UART and Two-Wire Interface are routed through a Digital Peripheral Interface (DPI).

EMULATOR-USB & HP USB ICE Circuit Diagram

Product Details

Analog Devices’ cost-effective Universal Serial Bus (USB)-based emulator and High performance (HP) Universal Serial Bus (USB)-based emulator each provide an easy, portable, non-intrusive, target-based debugging solution for Analog Devices JTAG processors and DSPs. These powerful USB-based emulators perform a wide range of emulation functions, including single-step and full speed execution with pre-defined breakpoints, and viewing and/or altering of register and memory contents. With the ability to automatically detect and support multiple I/O voltages, the USB and HP USB emulators enable users to communicate with all of the Analog Devices JTAG processors and DSPs using either a full speed USB 1.1 or high speed USB 2.0 port on the host PC. Applications and data can easily and rapidly be tested and transferred between the emulators and the separately available VisualDSP++ development and debugging environment(sold separately).

The plug-and-play architecture of USB allows the emulators to be automatically detected and configured by the host operating system. It can also be connected to and disconnected from the host without opening the PC or turning off the power to the PC. A 3-meter cable is included to connect the emulators to the host PC, thus providing abundant accessibility to hard to reach targets.

The HP USB-based emulator also supports the Background Telemetry Channel (BTC), a non-intrusive method for exchanging data between the host and target application without affecting the target system's real-time characteristics.

EVAL-SH-AUDIO-EZEXT Circuit Diagram

Product Details

The SHARC Audio EZ-Extender provides users the ability to evaluate audio application on the ADSP-214xx EZ-Board/ EZ-KIT Lite. Software examples are provided in the latest update of VisualDSP++.

The EZ-Extender consists of three Analog Devices AD1939 audio codecs and provides 24 channels of analog audio out, 12 channels of analog audio in. The primary codec operates in both in I2S and TDM mode and can run at sample rates of 48, 96, or 192 KHz. The other two codec are configured to operate in Dual Line TDM mode. The three codecs together can operate in dual line TDM mode for 24 analog channels out and 12 analog channels in at a sample rate of 192KHz.

The audio input and output is available via multiple RCA connectors. A group of switches are available if a user should decide to evaluate the audio codec inputs and outputs in a differential mode. (NOTE: DB25 to XLR cables are not supplied with the EZ-Extender).
