Programmable Dual-Axis Inclinometer / Accelerometer
Unique characteristics of the end system can be easily accommodated via several built-in features including an auto-zero recalibration via a single register command, as well as configurable sample rate and frequency response.
The ADIS16201 also offers a comprehensive set of features which can be used to further reduce the hardware complexity of system designs. These integrated features include a configurable alarm function, auxiliary 12-bit ADC, auxiliary 12-bit DAC, configurable digital I/O port, and a digital self test function. The ADIS16201 offers two different power management features that can be enabled via the SPI port; a programmable duty cycle sleep mode for systmes that do not require continuous operation and a low power mode for systems that can trade reduced sample rates for more efficient power operation.
The ADIS16201 is available in a 9.2mm x 9.2mm x 4mm Land Grid Array (LGA) package with a temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.Applications
- Platform Stabilization and Leveling
- Tilt Sensing, Inclinometers
- Motion / Position Measurement
- Monitor / Alarm Devices (Security, Medical, Safety)

The ADIS16201/PCBZ is a "breakout boad that provides (1) ADIS16201CCCZ and (1) interface PCB to simplify the process of "prototyping" during the early stages of system design and evaluation. The ADIS16201CCCZ is a fully-calibrated, digital MEMS inclinometer, which provides a serial peripheral interface (SPI) for all digital communications. It is in a 16-lead, LGA package that minimizes board space but does not support typical prototype soldering processes. The interface PCB provides access to the ADIS16201CCCZ, using dual-row, 12-pin connectors, which supports standard ribbon cable systems and hand-soldering connection techniques.
The ADISUSB system provides a simple, PC-based tool, for evaluating iSensor products, for those who are not ready to integrate them into embedded processor systems. This system supports application software that enable basic demonstration, individual register access and data capture for each supported device. Each application software package comes with an installation wizard, which facilitates simple installation and also includes a simple USB-driver package that is easy to use. All software packages associated with the ADISUSB are compatible with the 32-bit versions of Windows XP, Vista and 7. The ADISUSB circuit board is 0.125” thick, which enables pre-drilled, pre-tapped mounting holes for each iSensor device. The mounting holes accommodate M2x0.4mm machine screws. The integrated power system eliminates the need for external power supplies in most cases, but does provide for an external power supply input, for supply-sensitivity testing. The power system uses the USB’s +5V and provides a linear regulator option for +3.3V devices.
ADI has always placed the highest emphasis on delivering products that meet the maximum levels of quality and reliability. We achieve this by incorporating quality and reliability checks in every scope of product and process design, and in the manufacturing process as well. "Zero defects" for shipped products is always our goal.
