The ADV7190 and ADV7191 are part of the new generation of video encoders from Analog Devices.

The ADV7190 and ADV7191 are integrated Digital Video Encoders that convert Digital CCIR-601 4::2:2 Component Video Data (8 or 16 bit) into a standard analog base band television signal compatible with NTSC, PAL B/D/G/H/I, PAL M, PAL N& PAL-60.

In addition to the composite output signal, there is the facility to output S-VHS Y/C Video, RGB Video and YUV Video. The Y/C, RGB and YUV format is simultaneously available at the analog outputs with the composite video signal.

All six DACs are capable of providing an output current of 4.33mA.
The ADV7190 and ADV7191 also support both a PAL and NTSC square pixel modes.

The new design of the ADV7190 and ADV7191 incorporate programmable Gamma Correction and programmable Digital Noise Reduction 4xOversampling with an internal PLL to output data at 54MHz.

Video control functions have been improved in increasing scale factors for the color and contrast controls and the brightness control. An Average Brightness Detection control has been added as well as a Field Counter. Also, Chroma and Luma can now individually be delayed if required.

The internal clock is generated on-chip. The ADV7190/ADV7191 modes are set up over a serial bi-directional I2C port. Additionally, the ADV7190/ADV7191 allow a sub-carrier phase lock with an external video source and has a color bar generator on-board. Functionally, the ADV7190 and the ADV7191 are the same, except that the ADV7190 incorporates the Macrovision (Revision 7) anti-copy algorithm.

The ADV7190/ADV7191 is designed with programmable Luminance and Chrominance filters for better video performance. The Luminance filter has a special mode called SSAF™ which gives extended bandwidth and has a very sharp roll-off.

The ADV7190 is designed with four color controls (Hue, Contrast, Brightness and Saturation).

There is also the facility to boost the Luminance signal in programming the response of the SSAF filter.

HSO & VSO/CSO TTL O/P's timed to the analog output video are available.

A CLAMP output signal is available to enable clamping in both the Front and Back Porch of the video signal.

All YUV formats (BetaCam, MII and SMPTE) are supported.

The ADV7190/ADV7191 also has a separate teletext input port.

The ADV7190/ADV7191 has an Advanced Power Management system whereby the Sleep current is as low as 0.1µA and still allows I2C access during this Sleep Mode of operation. This is ideal for portable equipment which is sensitive to power consumption like Laptops.

The ADV7190/ADV7191 is fabricated in a +3V CMOS process. Its monolithic CMOS construction ensures greater functionality with low power dissipation. The ADV7190 is packaged in a 64-Pin LQFP package.
