Low-Pin-Count Smart Card Interface IC for STB/Pay-Per-View Conditional Access Applications

Viewing:

Overview

  • Complies with ISO 7816-3 and EMV 4.2
  • Supports 5V, 3V, and 1.8V Cards
  • ISO 7816-3 Activation/Deactivation Sequencer and Automated Hardware Fault Deactivation
  • True Overcurrent Detection Up to 145mA
  • 1µA Power-Down Mode
  • ±6kV ESD Protection on Card Interface
  • Small-Format 14-Pin SO Package

The 73S8014BL is an ultra-low pin count, single smart card interface circuit (ICC) optimized for set-top box/A/V conditional access applications. It is an attractive BOM reduction path from comparable 8024-type devices when only needing support for asynchronous cards and not needing support for C4 and C8. While maintaining firmware and host interface compatibility, the 73S8014BL adds functionality like power-down mode while creating a device with a smaller pin count and fewer external components.

Applications

  • General-Purpose Smart Card Readers
  • Pay-per-View
  • Set-Top Box Conditional Access Applications
