The 73S8014BL is an ultra-low pin count, single smart card interface circuit (ICC) optimized for set-top box/A/V conditional access applications. It is an attractive BOM reduction path from comparable 8024-type devices when only needing support for asynchronous cards and not needing support for C4 and C8. While maintaining firmware and host interface compatibility, the 73S8014BL adds functionality like power-down mode while creating a device with a smaller pin count and fewer external components.
Applications
- General-Purpose Smart Card Readers
- Pay-per-View
- Set-Top Box Conditional Access Applications
