Dual 13A or Single 26A μModule Regulator Integrates Digital Power System Management
Data centers and server farms contain vast amounts of digital electronics, such as ASICs, FPGAs, and CPUs. Powering, monitoring and managing power consumption at every node—down to the board level—is a challenging task facing designers of today’s systems. Fault management, flexible power sequencing, making changes-on-the-fly and debugging of these systems requires a new approach to board-mount power: integrating DC/DC conversion with Digital Power System Management (DPSM). The LTM4676 is a dual 13A or single 26A output step-down DC/DC µModule (micromodule) regulator with an I²C-based interface, making it suitable to power today’s digital electronics and communicate with board-mount controllers (BMCs), embedded systems and meld with Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) functions. With ±1% DC output error over temperature, ±2.5% current readback accuracy, an integrated 16-bit delta-sigma ADC and EEPROM, the LTM4676 combines best-in-class analog switching regulator performance with precision mixed signal data conversion. The LTM4676 tackles the challenges of DPSM and provides a compelling “digitally-enhanced” DC/DC solution in a small, 16mm × 16mm × 5mm BGA package.
