How to Control and Monitor LDOs with PMBus and LTpowerPlay®

Nov 24 2025

Join as we explore how to digitally control fault limits and monitor them on a linear regulator using PMBus and LTpowerPlay®. Analog Devices' LT3074 is the first LDO to feature a PMBus interface. PMBus, or Power Management Bus, is an industry-standard digital serial interface designed for telemetry and fault reporting. In this video, we'll demonstrate how to use LTpowerPlay®, a software tool from ADI Power Studio, to communicate with the LT3074 LDO over PMBus.

The LT3074 is a 5.5V, 3A ultralow noise, high PSRR, 45mV dropout linear regulator. Importantly, the LDO's noise performance is not impacted by PMBus communication. This makes the LT3074 an excellent choice for RF power supplies, high-speed and high-precision data converters, low-noise instrumentation, FPGAs, DSPs, microprocessors, and medical-grade systems.

Watch now to see how this innovative regulator can be digitally managed for enhanced fault control and system monitoring.
