Product Details

The ADTR1101-EVALZ evaluation board is a 2-laver printed circuit board (PCB) fabricated from a 10mil thick, Rogers 4350B copper clad mounted to an aluminum heat spreader. The heat spreader assists in providing thermal relief and mechanical support to the PCB. Mounting holes on the heatsink allow attachment to a heatsink or thermal plate for thermal management.

The TXIN, ANT, RX_OUT, and CPLR ports are populated by 2.92mm, female coaxial connectors. All RF traces are 500 ground- ed coplanar waveguide. The ADTR1101-EVALZ is populated with components suitable for use over the -40°C to +105°C operating temperature range of the ADTR1101. To calibrate board trace losses, in both the transmit and receive paths, a through calibration path is provided. However, to use the through calibration path, RF connectors must be installed.

Access to the drain, ground, and gate control pins of the ADTR1101 is through two 24-pin headers.

Package ground leads and the exposed paddle connect directly to the ground plane. Multiple vias connect the top and bottom ground planes with particular focus on the area directly beneath the ground paddle to provide adequate electrical and thermal conduction to the heat spreader.

The ADTR1101-EVALZ ships with a pulser controller board, ADTR1011-DRAIN-PULSER, that plugs directly into its two headers. The pulser controller board contains a field effect transistor (FET) and FET driver, and it is used to operate the ADTR1101 in drain pulsed mode.
