Using the 73M2901CE in a Teridian K-Series Application

Abstract

Teridian K-Series modems have been used in various low-speed data applications, from point-of-sale (POS) terminals to security systems. Since these ICs are reaching end-of-life after years of successful production, there is a need to design a K-Series replacement in products that either are being manufactured or have a long lifetime remaining. There are fundamental differences between the architectures of the K Series and the 73M2901CE, Teridian's V.22bis single-chip modem. However, since the 73M2901CE can be considered a "super set" of the K Series, using it as a replacement can usually eliminate hardware and simplify design. Read full article.
