Overview

  • Low Latency (15ns)
  • Optimized for 10G Ethernet
  • Integrated PRBS and BERT
  • Loss-of-Signal (LOS) and Loss-of-Lock (LOL) Alarms
  • BER Contour Eye Monitor
  • Selectable 2-Wire or SPI Microcontroller Interface
  • Small-Footprint, 36-Ball Flip-Chip BGA in 5mm x 5mm Package with 0.8mm Ball Pitch
  • Up to 20 meters Across Twin-Pair Serial Copper Cable
  • Single IC Used for Transmit or Receive

The PHY1066 is an active equalizer and retiming driver with programmable preemphasis designed for 10Gbps active copper cable and backplane applications. The low-latency IC is also ideal for use in delay critical applications, and the small BGA package fits inside an XFP MSA connector.

The device automatically equalizes and optimizes itself to its surrounding environment, whether it is a change in temperature or if the cable is moved. Tested up to 20 meters across 24AWG twin-ax copper cable, the device can also be used up to 10 meters across 30AWG.

Loss-of-signal (LOS) and loss-of-lock (LOL) alarms provide additional monitoring to the host controller. Accessing the PHY1066 is through the selectable 2-wire or SPI™ microcontroller interface. Integrated PRBS and BERT can be integrated as part of the set-up and test routine, and can also be used in the lab.

Applications

  • 10GBASE-SR When Placed on Host
  • 10Gbps Active Copper Cables Inside XFP Connector
  • 10Gbps Passive Cables When Placed on Host
  • Copper Backplanes
