The DS2401 enhanced Silicon Serial Number is a low-cost, electronic registration number that provides an absolutely unique identity which can be determined with a minimal electronic interface (typically, a single port pin of a microcontroller). The DS2401 consists of a 64-bit ROM that includes a unique 48-bit serial number, an 8-bit CRC, and an 8-bit Family Code (01h). Data is transferred serially via the 1-Wire® protocol that requires only a single data lead and a ground return. Power for reading and writing the device is derived from the data line itself with no need for an external power source. The DS2401 is an upgrade to the DS2400. The DS2401 is fully reverse-compatible with the DS2400 but provides the additional multi-drop capability that enables many devices to reside on a single data line. The familiar TO-92, SOT-223 or TSOC package provides a compact enclosure that allows standard assembly equipment to handle the device easily.
Applications
- Equipment Registration
- Network-Node Identification

Evaluation Kits 4
DS9090EVKIT
1-Wire Device Evaluation Kit
Product Detail
The DS9090EVKIT evaluation system (EV system) consists of a DS9490+ USB-to-1-Wire®/iButton® adapter for PC connectivity, a DS9120P+ socket board with RJ11 cable, and seven different 1-Wire devices. This EV system provides the special hardware and software system to exercise the features of 1-Wire devices with memory or PIO/switches, except 1-Wire EPROM devices. (EPROM devices such as the DS2502 and DS2506 require a different adapter (DS9481R-3C7) to perform an EPROM write. This adapter can be purchased separately.) 1-Wire EPROM devices are available for sampling.
The EV system software consists of the OneWireViewer (a Java® program) that runs under Windows ® OS and comes as part of the 1-Wire drivers installation package.
DS9120P
Socket Boards for Evaluating 1-Wire Devices
Product Detail
The DS9120 family of socket boards are RJ11-to-socket boards that provide the hardware connectivity necessary to evaluate and operate 1-Wire® products in an easy-to-use PC environment. Additionally, the socket boards can be readily used with the DS9481R USB-to1-Wire adapter to create a 1-Wire PC programmer for 1-Wire EEPROM and one-time programmable (OTP)/EPROM devices.
