The ADN2849 is low power 10.7 Gbps driver for external modulation applications. The device is the smallest (4 mm x 4 mm Package), and lowest power (900 mW) device in its class. Integrated on-chip bias offset and modulation set buffer amplifiers further reduce board space requirements. The ADN2849 provides a 3 V single-ended output to drive an electro-absorption modulator. Greater overall device functionality is provided with improved modulation voltage rise and fall times of 27 ps and power dissipation of 900 mW.

The modulation voltage is programmable via an external voltage up to a maximum swing of 3 V when driving 50 Ω. The bias offset voltage and output eye cross point are also programmable. On-chip 50 Ω resistors are provided for back termination of the outputs.

The ADN2849 operates from a single power supply at -5.2 V or +5.0 V. It is available in 4 mm x 4 mm 24-Lead LFCSP Lead Frame Chip Scale packages or in bare die form.
