Purpose
This document sets forth the guiding principles that ADI will employ to facilitate the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (“AI”) in our products, during our product development efforts, and in our business operations.
Guiding Principles
ADI has long been committed to the responsible use of technology for the betterment of humanity and the planet. This is our commitment and our purpose as a company, and it applies to the responsible use of AI at ADI. Accordingly, we have established the following guiding principles to serve as the foundation for all AI usage across the company in our products, product development, and business operations. The four pillars of our guiding principles - Humanity and the Environment, Transparency, Expertise, and Security and Governance – are summarized below.
Humanity and the Environment:
- We believe there is a tremendous opportunity to harness the power of AI to improve the performance of our products, accelerate human breakthroughs, increase automation, enrich lives, and benefit the world through the use of our products and solutions.
- We strive to maintain a balance between AI-driven analysis and human decision-making, through the use of human oversight for critical decisions and applications.
- We endeavor to implement AI-based solutions that reduce time and energy consumption, contributing to environmental sustainability.
Transparency
- When possible, and in accordance with law, we will inform our employees, customers, and other partners when and how they are interacting with AI-based technology in our products and operations.
- We investigate shortcomings identified in AI technology used in our products and will notify stakeholders of any remediation. We are all in this together and ADI encourages you to report any identified shortcomings to ADI’s Responsible AI Officer.
- We are committed to the protection of employee, customer, and other third-party data. The use of this data by ADI in conjunction with AI technology is governed by our Data Privacy Policies.
Expertise
- We expect any AI incorporated into our products to expertly meet the functionality and performance standards stated in the associated product specifications.
Security and Governance:
Cyber-Resilience and Privacy Protection:
- Our use of AI prioritizes cyber-resilience and utilizes industry established safeguards for user privacy and physical safety at the enterprise level and from the Intelligent Edge to the Cloud. Our cyber security teams continually evaluate products and services that incorporate AI to ensure they are safe and secure.
- Our AI-powered products are designed to adhere to ADI standards and applicable laws including cyber-vulnerability identification and mitigation, open-source software usage, and other product risk mitigation standards.
Risk analysis and avoidance:
- We analyze and monitor the risks associated with AI implemented in our products, product development efforts, and business operations to help us identify and reduce or eliminate potential adverse impacts or harm. Moreover, we have implemented safeguards and human-in-the-loop decision making where appropriate.
