Overview

Overview
Eagle-IIl is a highly integrated Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) “true two chip” ADSL USB chipset solution that continues the tradition of unparalleled integration, performance, and flexibility of the Eagle chipset family. The chipset performs all physical layer functions needed to implement standardscompliant Category 1 and Category 2 Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) CPE modems.

Unparalleled Integration
A highly integrated solution, Eagle-Ill employs patented technology resulting in unparalleled component integration making it the lowest component count ADSL modem in the market. Data pump integration eliminates the need for costly external components such as VCXO, external memory, and controllers. By not only combining the line driver, receiver, line filtering components into the AD6488 AFE, but integrating the 3.3V and 1.8V regulators on chip too, ADI can offer the lowest system cost ADSL USB modem on the market today. This also reduces modem engineering design time resulting in improved time-to-market as well as reducing manufacturing cost, handling, and assembly time. The Eagle family’s dramatically reduced form factor provides OEMs with a variety of new and innovative packaging options never before available.

At the Pinnacle of Performance
Eagle-IlI delivers high-end performance and interoperability with full standards compliance that OEMs, Service Providers and consumers demand. In addition to superior downstream data rates as high as 12MB/s and upstream in excess of 1MB/s against ADI’s Anaconda central office chipset, the Eagle family has been thoroughly tested and offers full interoperability against DSLAMs from Alcatel, Cisco, Ericsson, ECI, Lucent, Marconi, NEC, Nokia, Samsung, Siemens, and Sumitomo.

Optimization and Performance without Rival
Optimized for USB only applications the Eagle III chipset is a scaled down version of the ubiquitous Eagle II chipset. Hence all of the existing device drivers developed for all popular consumer operating systems including Microsoft® Windows® (9x, 2000, ME, XP) to Macintosh® (OS9, OSX) and Linux® (Kernel 2.4), which field proven and highly stable migrate to the Eagle III.

In addition Eagle family supports G.992 annexes A, B, and C thus enabling OEMs to address a global marketplace with a single platform, offering unsurpassed flexibility to demanding service providers.
