AD6680

The AD6680 is a highly integrated ADSL device specifically designed for Router/Bridge/Gateway applications. What separates this solution from others in its class is the abundant on-chip software availability and functionality.

The AD6680 integrates the Broadband Communications Processor and ADSL Digital Pump on a single chip. The AD6680 digital device performs all of the Layer-1 to Layer-7 processing including ADSL, ATM, Bridging/Routing and Host processing on a single device. In addition to the AD6680 processor, Analog Devices offers a highly integrated line driver/receiver AFE in the AD6480. The AD6680 provides a very cost-effective, BOM efficient design for ADSL CPE solutions including Bridge/Router, WLAN/802.11b Access Points and Integrated Access Devices.

The AD6680 solutions comes with fully integrated software and reference platforms, providing system vendors with a significant Time-to-Market advantage. Analog Devices has a comprehensive software portfolio including full chain VoIP/VoATM, IP Middleware, Bridging/Routing, QoS, ATM processing and Network Management software. Analog Devices provides reference platforms with software fully integrated for a number of different applications including, Router, Wireless LAN Access Points and Integrated Access Device (VoIP and VoATM).

AD6680 supports advanced features like Stateful Firewall, Content Filtering, Fast Path Qo5, which are becoming essential functions for the emerging broadband gateway applications. The AD6680 provides PCMCIA support for gluelessly interfacing to devices like Wireless LAN chipsets allowing for development of cost-effective ASL Routers with built-in WLAN/802.11 access point functionality. AD6680 enables creation of ADSL USB-Ethernet Bridge/Router combination equipment, with the ability to use both USB and Ethernet ports simultaneously for LAN traffic.

AD6680 has a 150MHz RISC engine with a MIPS instruction set architecture, which allows system vendors differentiated value addition in their products, while running full feature software for gateway applications.

AD6680 is a standards compliant solution for ADSL with support for Annex A, B and C. The AD6680 supports the full ADSL bandwidth with a peak performance data rate of up to 12 Mbps downstream.
