The LT6703 µPower, low voltage comparator and reference offers a single comparator and accurate reference in a 2mm × 2mm DFN package. The -3 version is has a non-inverting input. Although only one of its comparator inputs is accessible (the other is connected to a 400mV internal precision voltage reference) its size makes it easy to fit on most crowded circuit boards.
The threshold voltage, which represents the combined reference accuracy and comparator offset, is guaranteed at ±1.25% at 25ºC. This threshold accuracy, in addition to the built-in 6.5mV of hysteresis, provides a clean switching threshold that the user can rely on even with slow varying inputs. The comparator internal 6.5mV (typical) of hysteresis simplifies designs by insuring stable operation in the presence of noise at the inputs, and to reject supply rail noise that might be induced by state change load transients. This internal hysteresis is designed such that the falling input threshold voltage is nominally 393.5mV. However, if an external positive feedback circuitry is employed the effective hysteresis can be increased if desired to 2V, for example. However, this circuitry will affect both the rising and falling input thresholds (the actual internal thresholds remain unaffected).
The LT6703 provides a flexible solution to many designs that require threshold detection applications, with characteristics accommodating wide temperature spans and space-critical designs. Its unique Over-The-Top® feature offers versatility and performance ideal for portable, battery-powered commercial products as well as industrial or high-temperature grade system monitoring applications.
