Power Added Efficiency

What is Power Added Efficiency?

Definition

In an RF power amplifier, power added efficiency (PAE) is defined as the ratio of the difference of the output and input signal power to the DC power consumed.

The formula for power added efficiency is:

PAE = (PRFOUT - PRFIN)/PDC = (PRFOUT - PRFIN)/(VDC*IDC)
