EMC/EMI Design Guidelines for 71M65xx ICs

Abstract

Designing a meter for optimum electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) can be a challenge for any engineer. EMC and electromagnetic interference (EMI) testing for single- and 3-phase energy-metering ICs involves conducted and radiated emissions, RF immunity, electrostatic discharge (ESD), and electrical fast transient (EFT) testing. This application note describes the details for EMI/EMC compliance, based on Teridian's 71M6511/71M6513/71M6515H energy-meter demo boards.
