RoHS Compliance
European Union Directive 2011/65/EC, Restriction of Hazardous Substances (otherwise known as RoHSII), restricts the use of four heavy metals (lead, mercury, cadmium, and hexavalent chromium), and two brominated flame retardants (polybrominated diphenyl ethers and polybrominated biphenyls) in electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) devices. EU Commission published new Directive (EU) 2015/863, amending EU Directive 2011/65/EC, which adds 4 phthalate substances (DEHP, BBP, DBP and DIBP) to the list of 6 already in RoHS II. These 4 phthalate substances will be restricted from use starting July 22, 2019 in most EEE . ADI provides products that allow our customers to be compliant with RoHS regulations. For more information on ADI's RoHS compliance program, see Analog Devices ROHS Compliance Information (pdf).
ADI's RoHS Position Statement (pdf)
Analog Devices evaluation boards are specifically designed for the purpose of research and development and are made available on a business-to-business basis and are therefore excluded from the scope of the RoHS 2 Directive.
EU REACH
REACH is the Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals. It came into force on 1 June 2007. As the REACH List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) is updated by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), ADI will provide its customers information regarding its compliance to the current revision of the SVHC list. ADI’s REACH compliance position statement is provided in the link below. For product specific requests for REACH certifications, please contact your regional support center. Please provide your contact information, company and country in your request.

Bromine and Chlorine Free
ADI is going beyond RoHS compliance to improve product recyclability by converting to bromine (Br) free and chlorine (Cl) free material sets. Bromine free and chlorine free is also referred to in the industry as halogen free or low halogen. ADI defines halogen free within a homogeneous material to mean the maximum concentration of Br is 900 ppm, the maximum concentration of Cl is 900 ppm, and the maximum concentration of total Br + Cl is 1500 ppm.
All new products are released with halogen free material sets. Customers are notified by PCN for products undergoing conversion to halogen free material sets. ADI is close to completing the transition for lead-framed packages. Nearly all laminate based products are assembled with halogen free die attach adhesives and mold compounds, but older laminate designs might contain bromine and chlorine.
Conflict Minerals
The financial Dodd-Frank Reform Act (Section 1502) requires companies registered on the US Stock Exchange to report and file the use of 3TGs (Tin, Tantalum, Tungsten and Gold) used to manufacture their products. This filing reports whether the sourcing of the 3TGs used had financed or benefited armed groups in the Democratic Republic of Congo or adjoining country.
