Frequently Asked Question

What types of frequency sweeping are available with DDS devices?

DDS devices can be used to perform linear ramp with defined endpoints (commonly called ramped FSK), linear sweep with no defined endpoints (commonly called chirp), and the RAM modes of operation. Devices that offer RAM mode operation include Random Access Memory (RAM) that can be programmed by the user, and the values in the RAM used as frequency tuning words. Please see the actual device data sheet for specific details of the RAM sweep modes of operation.
