A rapidly-expanding microprocessor market has created a need for inexpensive input/output peripherals, such as AID and DIA converters. The ideal microprocessor analg-to-digital interface circuit would be monolithic IC for small size and low cost, would consume little power, would interface directly to commonly-used logic level (TTL, CMOS), and would required little, if any, external logic circuitry to communicate with the CPU data bus.
