AN-1023: Fall Detection Application by Using 3-Axis Accelerometer ADXL345 Due to their diminished abilities, senior citizens often accidentally fall. These falls may have serious consequences if aid is not given in time. The majority of serious consequences are not the direct result of the fall, but rather are due to a delay in assistance and treatment. The danger of post-fall consequences can be greatly reduced if relief personnel can be alerted in time. Technological advancements in MEMS accelerometer sensors have made it possible to design a fall detector based on a 3-axis accelerometer. These fall detectors sense changes in body position by tracking acceleration changes. The data is then analyzed algorithmically to determine whether the individual is falling. The device works with a GPS module and a wireless transmitter module to issue an alert for assistance. The core of the fall detector is the detection principle and algorithm that judges the existence of an emergency situation. This 28-page Application Note describes the use of an ADXL345 three-axis digital accelerometer as a fall detector.
AN-0997: Ping-Pong Configuration Guide for ADM1062 to ADM1069 Devices The ADM1062 to ADM1069 Super Sequencers® offer a single-chip solution for supply monitoring and sequencing in multiple-supply systems. The ADM1062 to ADM1067 can monitor up to ten input rails (VH, VP1 to VP4, and VX1 to VX5)., while the ADM1068 and ADM1069 can monitor up to eight input rails (VH, VP1 to VP3, and VX1 to VX4). Two programmable comparators enable both undervoltage and overvoltage sensing with ±1% accuracy. For some applications, the number of the input rails exceeds the number of input pins on a single device. In these cases, multiple devices can be linked together to form a more powerful sequencer. A simple configuration allows devices to be able to hand off control of the sequencing process on request, minimizing the number of physical links needed for communicating between devices and maintaining fast system fault response. The ping-pong configuration lets devices exchange control of the sequencing process by transmitting pulse signals forward and backwards like a ping-pong ball. This 12-page Application Note explains the concept and implementation of the ping-pong configuration. May 2009
AN-1007: Using the ADAU1761 in DSP Bypass Mode to Emulate an ADAU1361 The ADAU1761 and ADAU1361 are low power audio codecs. The primary difference between the two devices is that the ADAU1761 includes a 50 MHz SigmaDSP® core. This 2-page Application Note explains how to use the ADAU1761 in a DSP bypass configuration to emulate the ADAU1361.
AN-1006: Using the EVAL-ADUSB2EBZ The EVAL-ADUSB2EBZ, also known as the USBi, is a standalone communications interface and programmer for SigmaDSP systems. It translates USB control commands from SigmaStudio to the I2C and SPI communications protocols. It is powered over the USB cable, so no external power supply is required. AN-0979: Digital Filtering Options: AD7190, AD7192 The AD7190 and AD7192 sigma-delta (Σ-Δ) ADCs feature a user-selectable sinc3 and sinc4 digital filter. This 4-page Application Note compares sinc3 and sinc4 filters, identifying the benefits and implications of each type. The order of the filter affects the performance of the Σ-Δ ADC.
